OS X El Capitan Compatibility

Alien Skin OS X El Captain compatible

We did a round of compatibility testing and determined that our currently shipping Alien Skin apps work just fine with OS X El Capitan. As always, we recommend backing up your Mac before installing new system software.

Do you have plans to provide your products as photos extensions for Apple Photos in OS X El Capitan?

    • Jimmy Beech January 5, 2016 at 1:50 pm

      Hi Heath,

Sorry for the delay. I checked in with the programming team before answering you. We don’t have plans to support Apple Photos as an extension. I will add it to the feature requests for the next version.

i bought a new IMac Retina 27 with El Capitain, i’m using Exposure 6 as plugin in PS 6 and i find Exposure slower than my old configuration (mac mini 2011-mavericks) expecially during the preset’s preview.
Have you any notice about it ?

      Hi Andrea,

Oh no, that doesn’t sound good.

Here is one thing that you can try to speed it up. Here is a link to an article about setting memory allocations in Exposure. I suggest setting Photoshop memory allocations to between 50-60%.

If that doesn’t help. Get in contact with the helpdesk. They are best suited to handle technical issues like this.

Hi, I just bought Photo Bundle for run in a Mac with OS X 10.11.13 and found two problems.
One with Exposure X that doesn’t open the image files from the Fotos or iPhoto Libraries. I tried in the two ways that I found in the tutorials but nothing. It’s impossible. I don’t have my images in a Folders outside the Foto Library or iPhoto Library and I understood that Exposure X doesn’t work like a plugin for Fotos.
The second problem is with BlowUp that also, doesn’t work without Photoshop or Lightroom. I mean, if I don’t want to work through anyone of them, how can EDIT and PRINT my images from Fotos or iPhoto with Exposure X and BlowUp directly.
    Thank in advance

      Hi Raymond,

You have me stumped. I don’t remember a Lacquer filter. Can you provide an example of what you’re looking for?

I just bought Blow up software and I am running El Captain photoshop not seeing it I have tried different installation unsuccessful since you guys check it let me know what the problem is I have tried photoshop 14, 15, 15.3 and 15.5

    • Jimmy Beech July 7, 2016 at 8:37 am

Blow Up is different than our other products when it’s used with Photoshop. It will show up at the bottom of the Filter Menu as ‘Alien Skin Blow Up 3’ and in Photoshop’s File-Automate menu. If you’re not seeing it listed in either of these places, something must be going wrong. Your computer meets our system requirements by your description.

The best thing to do is fill out a support ticket and we’ll help get to the bottom of what’s causing the issue.

I have just upgraded my Mac so it can run the latest software (OS from Lion to El Capitan) and gotten a new, more powerful, graphics card, so I have finally upgraded my Photoshop from CC (pre 2014) to 2017. How do I move Eye Candy from the older version to the newer one (and have the registration transfer with it)? Also, do I need an upgrade? (BTW, I use EyeCandy on both of my CC installs…one on my desktop MacPro and the other on Windows 10 on my laptop… and I need to upgrade them both.)

    • Jimmy Beech November 14, 2016 at 8:02 am

      Hi Carol,

The best way to get Eye Candy 7 into a new version of Photoshop is to run the latest installer. You can download it from our website, here. Make sure to quit all versions of Photoshop before running the installer. You won’t have to worry about activating the software on that computer. That’s only necessary if you want to move your copy of Eye Candy to a new computer.

Is there a way to remotely disable or disconnect the license from a computer? I ask because I installed it on my work computer and don’t want it to remain in their hands if and when I leave this job.
