Free Alt Photo + Update

Alt Photo is now free! At least for now, we decided that the best use of Alt Photo is to show off our effects to as wide an audience as possible.

In case you didn’t know, Alt Photo is our photography app that brings some simplified versions of Exposure’s effects to the iPhone. We kept the interface easy and fast for shooting on the go.

Recently we updated Alt Photo with an improved workflow for browsing and importing photos. It now has controls for intensity, brightness, and cropping. We also added a burst mode so you can keep shooting without pausing to edit.

The new version is available at the iOS App Store. If you like it then please write an app store review!

Below are some photos I created with Alt Photo and my iPhone. I used an Olloclip for two of the macro shots on the bottom row. I’ll write more about that handy tool soon.

When will you make a version of the app for Android? I’m looking forward to that!

We do not currently have plans to create an Android version of this app. We never know what the future holds, and if those plans change we will make sure to let everyone know.

I’d be interested in it for the (Android) Samsung Galaxy S III also! Am an Exposure user on my PC (not Mac!) and would love the consistency b/wn platforms… Thx.

Currently we have no plans for any updates like Android compatibility. If we do, we will make sure to let everyone know.

This app is a godsend. Thank You! Do you plan on adding additional looks in the future? I hope so. I would even pay for them. Pretty please. 🙂

Thank you for the great compliment. It’s possible, but I can not speak as to when, or what filters we would add. If you have any suggestions, we would be happy to hear them.

All those apps are really great but i wish i had something this useful i could just implement in LR for quick effects.

The Alt Photo presets come from Exposure. Exposure has the capability to work in Lightroom. You can use its presets to add effects quickly, but you also have full control over all the settings, and can tweak them until your hearts content.

wait, so i can get the software install it on lightroom, and then cycle through it like some of the lightroom presets? does it work with lightroom 3?

This is for Alt Photo only. It does not apply to our regular Photoshop plug-ins for Mac and PC. I was just pointing out that the effects in Alt Photo came from Exposure. If you need something you can put in Lightroom, you will want to look into Exposure 4 on our website.
