Jiggle and Shower Door return from the dead

Many years ago we had filters in Eye Candy for randomly warping images. They were called Jiggle and Shower Door. Someone recently asked about them so I made a tutorial for achieving those effects with the Ripples filter in Eye Candy 6. You can see the effects below. The article contains presets that you can download for all of these effects.

You can also watch a movie of how I made the original.

      Hi Todd,

You can make similar effects in Eye Candy 6. Here are a few steps to get you started:

      1. Select the text.
      2. Choose the menu option: Select > Inverse
      3. Select the layer that you want to cut out.
      4. Run Eye Candy 6’s Perspective Shadow filter.
      5. Go to the Settings tab and go to the settings group called “Drop”. This group contains drop shadow presets.
      6. Try a few presets to see which one fits your needs. I’m guessing that either “Height 1” or “Height 2” might be suitable for a simple cut-out effect.

Thank you for posting that. In the past you gave me this tutorial too, when I asked for Jiggle.

But the „Shower Door“ effect is not as fine as I could use the Jiggle filter. It was one of my most used EyeCandy filters ever. I can give some materials a more „naturally looking“ outfit if I roughen the edges a little bit with intuitive feeling. All workarounds like yours are well meant but only a compromise that doesn’t the same. If it will be possible, again: please, give Jiggle back to us! That would be greate! Thank you.

    (excuse my bad english)

Thanks for letting us know about how much you like the old Jiggle filter. No promises, but we will keep it in mind when we work on Eye Candy in the future.
