I’d like to introduce another one of the Aliens–Robert Lounsberry. You may know him as the friendly voice at our helpdesk. Eventually, we’ll introduce all of the team. Interested? Check out the other articles about Matt King, and his photo shoots.

Robert-Shoot-2-2

Robert joined ‘Team Skin’ in 2012. He came aboard after he served 2 years of hard time at Apple’s helpdesk. He enjoyed his time there, but was drawn to a more creative field. His appreciation for art and design demanded he make a change. Back in the 90’s, a graphic designer friend of his introduced him to Alien Skin’s products. Now, years later, he can still remember his fondness for our software back then and how he thought being one of the Aliens would be super-cool.

Robert felt like he came home as soon as he stepped over the threshold. His previous work environment had been steeped in corporate policies, so Alien Skin’s no-nonsense business practices came as a breath of fresh air. The new rules allowed him to “just get things done.” With the heavy chains of red tape lifted, he’s able to address real problems rather than treat symptoms. Now, he’s our tech support MacGyver.

Robert has one single remembrance of his first product release–Exposure 4: Hectic. Our helpdesk receives an intimidatingly high volume of tickets when a new product hits the store. Combine an avalanche of new support tickets with a foreign environment, and you get an idea of what it’s like in Robert’s shoes those first few months. In my opinion it’s absolute pandemonium, but Robert thrives in this environment.

He praises the team for all of our support during times when he’s buried. Robert is a firm believer in working with people of equal awesomeness. When you work with great people, you have a better chance of achieving great things, yourself. For example, Robert tells a quirky story about his first year here, he said, “Jeff would have to lovingly bludgeon me with his grammar hammer and it took a significant amount of reminders before it really clicked. Thanks to him, now I carry one of my own.”

The Alien Skin team puts a lot of effort into customer service right now, but there’s always room for improvement. This year, Robert will be focusing on the self service aspect of our support areas. His goal is to make it easier for our customers to find the answers they need, faster. His plans are to bring our support department to the next level.

Robert-Shoot-2-1

This look was a humourous take on everyone’s prep for the release of Exposure 6. Everyone at Alien Skin were burning the midnight oil to make sure all of our I’s were dotted, and t’s were crossed. Robert and I ran downstairs and snapped off a couple of shots during the madness.

Outside of Alien Skin, Robert is a family man. He prefers to enjoy as much time as possible together with his tribe. He is also quite the shooter, and has recently started shooting local and regional MMA fights. He’s a big fan of tasty brew, so much, in fact, that he’s formally requested a tap in the Alien Skin kitchen. Per Roberts official request: the first barrell would need to be full of Finley’s infamous home brew. Finley, I’m just a messenger–but that does sound tasty. #tapthekeg

Coming up soon is an article about the photo shoots and the retouches with the photos of Robert. Stay tuned!
