Carnevele, Venice, Italy

I took the shot on the left with my Canon 24-105mm lens @ 100mm. My f-stop was f/8 – which is the sharpest aperture on most lenses. When reviewing the image, I wish I had used an 85mm lens set a f/1.2 lens – which would have provided less depth-of-field, therefore allowing the subject to stand out more in the frame. Alien Skin’s Bokeh to the rescue. In less than a minute, I created the 85mm f1.2 lens effect – as illustrated by the image on the right! How cool!

Paro Festival, Bhutan

The annual festival in Paro, Bhutan, is a must-photograph event for photographers. This shot of a dancer, flying through the air, taken with my 24-105mm lens at 105mmm set at f/8, is one of my favorites. However, all the people in the background are distracting. Once again, Bokeh came to the rescue. With a few taps of my stylus, I was able to blur the background, simulating the effect of using a longer lens set at a wider aperture.

I love my photo, but I hate the background. but now... I love my photo and I love my background.
